Blackfriars Theatre
Academy takes place on Saturdays during term
time. It is open to children and young people
aged 4 - 18 years, offering acting, singing and
dance sessions to build confidence, learn new
skills, make new friends and have lots of fun.
The theatre academy gives members the
opportunity to work towards theatrical
performances under the expert guidance of Polka
Dot Academy whose teachers have professional
West End experience.
Polka Dot Academy run and manage the Blackfriars
Theatre Academy, they specialise in teaching
children all aspects of performing arts
throughout Lincolnshire. Led by the company's
artistic director, Darren Maddison, all tutors
are CRB checked, have first aid certificates and
conform to Boston Council's child protection
policies. Tutors have West End experience and a
great knowledge and understanding about how the
theatre industry works.
In addition to performance skills the Academy
gives young people the opportunity to learn
about the various elements involved in producing
a show, including set design and construction,
make up, wigs, costume, sound and lighting.
Each 12 week term includes a special 'master class'
and an awards ceremony to showcase the
children's achievements.
The academy is split into three age groups
-
Little Stars - age 4 - 7 years: £84 per 12 week
term
Saturdays 10.00am - 11.30am
Super Stars - age 8 - 11 years: £108 per 12 week
term
Saturdays 11.30am - 1.30pm
Mega Stars - age 12 - 18 years: £108 per term
Saturdays 2.00pm - 4.00pm
Winter Term commences on Saturday 12th September
