Nick Rathbourne is another mainly self-taught artist who has been in the company of artists from an early age, and has learnt to appreciate beauty in everything and in everyone. So whenever an opportunity would arise he has sought to record it to the best of his ability.

After a busy working life in industry and in the academic field, Nick became proficient in typographic design, lettering and calligraphy. The latter included commissions for various organisations and for international publishers.

On retirement he decided to take on a correspondence course with the Open College of Art for two years, and then decided to strike out on his own to work at a more leisurely pace in order to paint for the inspiration of the subject, or the occasional commission.
