Join us to celebrate the life and passion of our friend John Sabberton.

Featuring songs from a selection of John's favourite shows being performed by some of his talented friends who have been honoured to share the stage with him over the years.

With special guest performer Matthew Siveter - Matthew is a professional singer who has performed here at Blackfriars with the Charles Court Opera - a company whose events at our little theatre John would generously sponsor.  Matthew will be bringing to life some of the Gilbert and Sullivan favourites as well as duetting with local singers for your entertainment.

John was a trustee here at Blackfriars for many years and was given the status of Honorary President of the Trust when he retired a few years ago due to ill health.  John's passion was opera and Musical theatre - he was heavily involved in setting up the Blackfriars Theatre Academy which is still going strong and some of its students will be performing for us this evening.  John was also involved with local amateur society BOS Musical Theatre Group (formerly Boston Operatic Society) and over the years he was frequently seen both on stage and directing.

John is greatly missed here at Blackfriars and this evening's event will be raising money for both Blackfriars and Diabetes UK - both charities that John supported so please give generously if you can.

We have a fundraising auction live now with items that have been donated to us for this event and all money raised will be split between the 2 charities. Items will be available to view on the evening and bids can be placed through the auction website beforehand here!

Finally, we hope you enjoy the evening and we look forward to sharing this special event with you all.

Blackfriars Theatre is run predominately by volunteers. If you would be interested in helping out please speak to our Box Office.

Thank you for your support and understanding. We hope you enjoy the show and encourage others to help Keep Theatre Live in Boston.

Blackfriars undoubtedly plays a very important role as Boston's centre for entertainment and the arts. It is home to two very successful local amateur dramatic and operatic groups, as well as hosting a varied program of professional stage productions.
