THE BARRY WHITFIELD TRIO will be providing their brand of cool jazz in the Revue bar. Barry Whitfield (piano), Kev Rogers (drums) and Warren Jolly (bass) are musicians from the east coast who have worked together for around five years. Professional musicians in their own right, they were brought together as the brainchild of Geoff Doncaster, and are well known in the Humberside /North Lincolnshire area. Barry is a highly accomplished professional musician – a pianist, organist, accompanist, director and composer. A skilled musical arranger, he has achieved gold record sales on two occasions whilst working as musical consultant/arranger for Flair Records/N.O.W. Music. He is a respected session musician and has worked in TV and Radio with a diversity of leading musicians and cabaret artistes, including Sir James Galway, Lulu, Lenny Henry, Ronnie Corbett, Smokie and Black Lace, as well as spending several years as assistant Musical Director to the late Sir Norman Wisdom.
In the jazz sphere, the Barry Whitfield trio has made several appearances at venues and festivals throughout the country including three at the Grimsby Jazz festival. CD recordings include “Brechia”, a collaboration with the poet Malcolm Carson which was a specially commissioned work, having its inaugural performance at the Cumbria Arts Theatre, Carlisle. The trio will be in the studio during the summer months producing their first album together.
