Blackfriars Theatre - Kitchen Refurbishment Update

Tuesday 24th April

The Directors of Blackfriars Theatre and Arts Centre are delighted to announce another exciting upgrade to the facilities here at Blackfriars Theatre.

Over the past 3 years we have been actively seeking support from outside sources to help us ‘Keep Theatre Live’ in Boston by completing much needed renovations and upgrades to the facilities here at Blackfriars Theatre and Arts Centre.

Many thanks go out to Ørsted for a grant of £18,820.00 through their East Coast Community Fund which has enabled us to complete our latest project and replace the old kitchen in the building with a beautiful new state-of-the-art commercial grade kitchen, with all new stainless-steel fixtures and fittings.

The new kitchen is of the highest standard and meets all current hygiene regulations. It is up to catering standard so that Blackfriars are now able to offer full kitchen facilities suitable for outside caterers to use for parties, conferences and other events. New energy efficient equipment (Fridges, freezer, dishwasher, induction hob, oven) have replaced the forty-year-old equipment that we have used for so long.

Blackfriars Theatre and Arts Centre is currently used by many local people and businesses, who hire the rooms or the theatre for events, shows, conferences, dance classes and much more. The upgrade of this facility will enable us to be able to offer full catering services to these building users and anyone else who is looking for a venue suitable for a function, conference or party.

Chairman of Blackfriars Board of Directors Stuart Bull said ‘Without the support of Ørsted and their generous grant, we would not have been able to afford to complete this work for several years and this could have put our coffee mornings and other events at the centre in jeopardy as the old facilities were no longer up to task’. ‘These are exciting times here at Blackfriars as we continue to upgrade our facilities propelling us forward into a new era!’

If you are interested in hiring the facilities at Blackfriars Theatre and Arts Centre please contact Andrea for information on availability and pricing marketing@blackfriarsartscentre.co.uk.

Thanks also go out to JES Electrical and KCM Catering Equipment of Grantham, who worked timelessly to supply and fit this kitchen for us on schedule.

Blackfriars undoubtedly plays a very important role as Boston's centre for entertainment and the arts. It is home to two very successful local amateur dramatic and operatic groups, as well as hosting a varied program of professional stage productions.
