ROGER MONKHOUSE

Roger Monkhouse is one of the most original and distinctive acts on the comedy scene. A consummate stand-up who employs a deadly combination of charm and menace to exert a masterful control over any audience. A highly original and quirky performer, Roger’s trademark stage-prowling style and curious, inimitable manner have established him as one of the hottest names on the comedy circuit.

Distinguished as a comic by his eloquence and keen eye for a fine phrase, Roger’s easy observational style is spiked by the signal flares of an accomplished gag writer. A supremely confident compere and seasoned corporate host, Roger is happy to improvise freely with a crowd and is at great ease bantering with an audience, but has no shortage of first class observational material in his armoury.

As one of the most sought after acts on the comedy circuit, Roger headlines at all the major comedy venues and has performed extensively throughout the United Kingdom and Internationally, most recently performing in Belgium, The Netherlands, South Africa, China, Singapore, Tokyo and the Middle East. He has also featured on major national tours of the UK sponsored by Hooch and J2O.

Recent television credits include ‘The Comedy Store’ and ‘The World Stands Up’, (both Paramount), ‘My God I’m My Dad’ (Bravo) and ‘Street Cred Sudoku’ (UKG2). He is one of the regular writers on Channel 4’s hugely popular comedy panel show ‘8 Out of 10 Cats’ – responsible for scripting up-to-theminute topical gags every week for the show which features Jimmy Carr alongside team captains Dave Spikey and Sean Lock. On the airwaves, he was recently a guest panellist on comedy panel show ‘Jest A Minute’ (BBC Radio Wales) as well as contributing to review show ‘Serious About Comedy’ (BBC7).

SARAH CALLAGHAN

Sarah Callaghan is an award-winning comedian and writer.

The instant she steps on stage you know you’re in the presence of someone new and special ***** The Mirror

Armed with bags of attitude, she’s a refreshing working-class comedy voice…reminiscent of a young Kathy Burke **** The Herald

In 2014 she was named as ‘One to Watch’ by Time Out and in 2015 she took her critically-acclaimed debut hour show Elephant to the Edinburgh Fringe. Sarah was widely heralded as an exciting new comedic voice, a status cemented by her Malcolm Hardee Award nomination for ‘Act Most Likely To Earn A Million Quid’. She also appeared on E4’s Virtually Famous as a guest on Seann Walsh’s team. Elephant subsequently toured to the prestigious Soho Theatre for a run of shows in 2016, again to acclaim, and then on to the Perth and Sydney Comedy Festivals in Australia.

A powerhouse. She’s an utter natural on stage… radiates confidence **** Chortle

In 2016 Sarah wrote and performed sketches on @elevenish (ITV2) and returned to the Edinburgh Fringe with her eagerly-awaited follow-up, 24, followed by 'The Pigeon Dying Under the Bush' in 2017 and 'The Ballad of Sarah Callaghan' in 2018. Since then Sarah has performed all over Europe in places such as Brussels, Norway, Estonia, and Andorra to name a few. In 2018 she took 'The Ballad of Sarah Callaghan' to the New Zealand International Comedy Festival; along side her first stand up debut on TV in the same country. She continues to take the circuit by storm.

More recently she has been taking the spoken word circuit by storm, appearing most recently on Benjamin Zephaniah’s show on Sky TV

NEW ACT

GAVIN WEBSTER

Gavin Webster is on the rise. He’s been on the rise for eighteen years. After making his modest debut in a pub in Gateshead in February 1993 he’s done about three thousand gigs from Aberdeen to Abu Dhabi, Manchester to Melbourne and Hartlepool to Hong Kong. Famed and respected by his peers for his uncompromising and unusual approach and distinctly original routines, he now boasts a large cult following round the country and particularly on his native Tyneside where he sells out theatres with his one man ninety minute shows. Hard edged routines, quick-fire pastiche pieces, moronic jokes and sardonic songs, his unique style has brought him this kind of praise and attention.

TV includes;

Never Mind The Buzzcocks (BBC2) The Stand-up Show (BBC1), Does Doug Know (Channel 4) Take The Mike (ITV), The Regionnaires (Tyne Tees) The Eleven O Clock show (Channel 4), The Comedy Store, Comedy Blue (Paramount/Comedy Central), The World Stand Up Tour (Channel 9 Australia, Comedy Central USA)

2016 sees Gavin make his big screen debut in Ken Loach’s ‘I, Daniel Blake’

‘His daftness is little short of surreal genius’ The Stage  ‘Funny, clever and as brilliantly observed as you’ll find’ The Scotsman

‘Virtuoso and close to the bone stuff’ Sunday Sun    ‘Like a cross between Bill Hicks and Geoff off Byker Grove’  Ross Noble
