Heritage Opera, Northwest England’s professional touring opera company, returns to Blackfriars Theatre and Arts Centre with Puccini’s ‘Madame Butterfly’- the heartbreaking story of Cio Cio San, the Nagasaki geisha, and her unwavering belief that the husband who married, then deserted her, Lieutenant BF Pinkerton of the United States Navy, will one day return.

Sarah Helsby Hughes plays the trusting Cio Cio San, Nicholas Sales is the arrogant Pinkerton, and Serenna Wagner plays the faithful servant Suzuki. They are supported by a cast of seven professional singers, and an orchestral ensemble of 6 players.

Blackfriars Theatre is run predominately by volunteers. If you would be interested in helping out please speak to our Box Office.

Thank you for your support and understanding. We hope you enjoy the show and encourage others to help Keep Theatre Live in Boston.

Blackfriars undoubtedly plays a very important role as Boston's centre for entertainment and the arts. It is home to two very successful local amateur dramatic and operatic groups, as well as hosting a varied program of professional stage productions.
