Blackfriars Dance Academy

Welcome to the Blackfriars Dance Academy.

Blackfriars Dance Academy is based in Boston, Lincolnshire and delivers quality, fun and friendly teaching to students of all ages and abilities at Blackfriars Theatre and Arts Centre.

Through commitment and passion for dance, the highest standard of professional care and attention is given to all pupils in classes which are delivered by fully qualified, registered and accredited IDTA and ABD tutors. Training and examinations are delivered in accordance with the ‘International Dance Teachers Association’ and ‘Associated Board of Dance’ syllabus.  

This term we are delighted to introduce some new faculty members to the Dance Academy and to launch an extended timetable of classes. We now offer IDTA International Dance Teachers Association qualifications alongside our current Associated Board of Dance Examination classes. Dance disciplines available to study include Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Acro Lyrical, Musical Theatre, Contemporary and Commercial.. We cater for a range of abilities with classes available for both children and adults.

Alongside principal Abi Kingsley Parker, classes will be delivered by;

Gemma Millard- Head of IDTA and Competition Team: Gemma is a highly qualified tutor who has successfully lead many teams to victory with several  ex students now attending prestigious vocational schools. 

Beth Scarborough- IDTA Associate Tutor: Professionally trained at Stella Mann and an experienced performer covering several dance genres herself, Beth will be delivering classes as our associate IDTA tutor.

Ash Becket- Fitness Instructor: A qualified personal trainer, Ash will be delivering our Saturday fitness classes.

Courtney Hunt- Commercial/Assistant Tutor: Courtney currently teaches for Blackfriars Theatre Academy and has been delivering our Stage classes, we are delighted she will be assisting with more dance academy classes from this term. She is an experienced choreographer and dance leader.

Maria Langley- Guest Tutor: A highly experienced professional choreographer and tutor, Maria occasionally guest teaches for Blackfriars Dance Academy.

Ruby Walker- Junior Tutor/Assistant: A highly trained dancer, Ruby joins us as a junior class tutor and assistant teacher.

We also have a link to an online uniform shop where you’ll find all the syllabus leotards and approved shoes etc in individual class specified groups.

If you wish to join our academy you will need to complete a registration form to hand to the academy tutor. Tutors will have copies available at classes.
