G&S Ruddigore

G&S Ruddigore

Charles Court Opera
Saturday 23rd May at 7.30pm

£19.50

This quirky spoof on melodrama, with mad damsels, villainous barons and a gallery of ghosts, is injected with a spark of electricity and plenty of punch in a way that only CCO can do.  Expect "a sparklingly fresh package of pathos, foolery and high-class music making" (Opera Now on Pirates).

A stalwart of London's off-west-end and the Gilbert & Sullivan Festival in Buxton and Harrogate, Charles Court Opera have been producing opera, music theatre and pantomime in London and on tour for ten years, garnering rave reviews in the press, being described as "a must-see" by The Telegraph, and winning Broadwayworld's "Funniest show of the year" 2013.

They are one of the leading lights in the recent reinvigoration of the works of Gilbert and Sullivan, and this brand new production is directed by the company's artistic director, John Savournin (one of the "finest G&S actor/directors of the present day" - Daily Express) and musically directed by David Eaton from the piano.

Featuring a first-rate cast of nine CCO favourites, this special anniversary production is not to be missed.

Blackfriars undoubtedly plays a very important role as Boston's centre for entertainment and the arts. It is home to two very successful local amateur dramatic and operatic groups, as well as hosting a varied program of professional stage productions.
