Jake Thackray’s songs are exquisitely funny, satirical, incisive, irreverent, witty and gloriously un-PC – and sometimes all of these at the same time.

John Watterson (Fake Thackray) has performed Jake’s songs at venues across the UK and on local and national radio – most recently on Radio 4s ‘Great Lives’.

John has supported Fairport Convention on their 6-week nationwide tour, achieved several 4 star reviews for his extended run at Edinburgh Festival, and has received accolades from many of Jake’s friends and contemporaries, including Ralph McTell, Richard Digance, Mike Harding and Sir Richard Stilgoe.

Long may John continue to keep Jake’s memory alive so affectionately and skilfully, and introduce more people to one of the most remarkable talents I ever met.” Sir Richard Stilgoe

Blackfriars undoubtedly plays a very important role as Boston's centre for entertainment and the arts. It is home to two very successful local amateur dramatic and operatic groups, as well as hosting a varied program of professional stage productions.
